Ealing.
Ealing is a large suburb in west London, England and the administrative headquarters of the London Borough of Ealing. It is located 7.7 miles 12.4 km west of Charing Cross and is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. It was historically a rural village in the county of Middlesex and formed an ancient parish. Improvement in communications with London, culminating with the opening of the railway station in 1838, shifted the local economy to market garden supply and eventually to suburban development. As part of the growth of London in the 20th century, Ealing significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming a municipal borough in 1901 and has formed part of Greater London since 1965. It now forms a significant commercial and retail centre with a developed night time economy. The Saxon name for Ealing was recorded c.700 as Gillingas The most important changes to Ealing occurred in the 19th century. The building of the Great Western Railway in the 1830s Ealing is served by Ealing Broadway station on the Great Western Main Line and the London Underground in London fare zone 3. Ealing was the setting for children's comedy show Rentaghost. Ealing is the host to several annual festivals
Golders Green.
Golders Green is an area in the London Borough of Barnet in London, England. Although having some earlier history, it is essentially a 19th century suburban development situated about 5.3 miles 8.5 km north west of Charing Cross and centred on the crossroads of Golders Green Road and Finchley Road. In the early 20th century it grew rapidly in response to the opening here of a tube station of the London Underground, which at this point is above ground. It has a wide variety of housing and a busy main shopping street, Golders Green Road. The area is noted especially for its large Jewish population. The name Golders comes from a family named Godyere who lived in the area and Green alludes to the manorial waste the settlement was built on. In 1895 a cemetery was established adjacent to Hoop Lane, with the first burial in 1897. Golders Green Crematorium was opened in 1902 Both the Golders Green Hippodrome, former home of the BBC Concert Orchestra, and the police station opened in 1913. Cricklewood is a district of North London, England whose northeastern part is in the London Borough of Barnet, western part is the London Borough of Brent and southeastern part is in London Borough of Camden. There was a small settlement at the junction of Cricklewood Lane and the Edgware Road by 1294, which by 1321 was being called Cricklewood. By the 1750s the Crown rebuilt in 1889, was providing for coach travellers and by the 1800s it had a handful of cottages and Cricklewood House as neighbours, and was known for its pleasure gardens. By the 1860s there were a number of substantial villas along the Edgware Road starting with Rockhall Lodge and culminating in Rockhall Terrace. Childs Hill Station, later Cricklewood, opened in 1868, but Cricklewood only fully became an industrial and suburban district in the 1930s. By the 1890s, houses and shops had been built along part of Cricklewood Lane. Cricklewood Broadway had become a retail area by 1900 replacing the Victorian villas.
